Manufacturing: While the ERW pipes are made of hot rolled coils, the MS seamless pipes are made with round steel billets. The ERW pipes use medium-carbon steel while the MS seamless pipes are made up of low-carbon steel. ERW steel contains a carbon percentage of less than 0.30% by weight, whereas MS steel contains carbon percentage of 0.16-0.29% by weight. The raw materials provide different properties like strength to the pipes that make them suitable for their respective applications like in construction, transportation and support systems.
Strength: ERW pipes possess more strength compared to MS pipes. They can withstand more pressure. MS Steels on the other hand are more used for low to moderate pressure..

Cons: One drawback with ERW pipe is the high chance of welding errors. Their heat resistance is also lower than other types of pipes which makes them unsuitable for various industries.
